Based in the american roots tradition, Ian Gorman's songs ring with intimacy, intensity, joy, heartache, compassion, isolation, life and love. Spring and fall, earth and sky, sunlight and moonlight. He backs up his wistful, everyman voice with acoustic guitar and clawhammer banjo. On record his sound runs the gamut from sparse and haunting to full and driving. His lyrics are poetic and raw, striking an instant image and rewarding repeated listening. Ian has been writing, recording and performing music since he was a child, evolving from home recordings and open-mics to professional studios and festival stages.

Ian's ties to his community are strong - His work as a musician, sound engineer and music promoter has gotten him deeply involved with some of the most exciting, soulful and prolific artists in Michigan, including Steppin' In It, Seth Bernard and Daisy May, Greensky Bluegrass, Breathe Owl Breathe, Rachael Davis, Chris Bathgate, and Jen Sygit, among numerous others.

In addition to performing solo, Ian regularly plays with his oldtime band Who Hit John? and his Klezmer-fusion group The Red Sea Pedestrians. Ian is also proudly on the roster of Hey Burner Records, along with fellow Kalamazoo songwriters The Corn Fed Girls, Mark Duval, Jay Gavan, and Phil Barry.
